It may look like slow progress but with only one guy - CAL - knowing what to do I think we are doing very well. We did 4 walls yesterday and today we completed 7. Three of those were the bay window in the kitchen! It is starting to shape up. The kitchen has a few more inches then I thought - which is great. Basically, we have all the exterior walls for the living room, dining room and kitchen done.

Yes, you are seeing right. Dad is helping Cal. At the ripe old age of 81 dad is determined to 'help' build this house. We spend our time trying to think of what job we could give him that *he will be safe at, * that will not be too taxing on him, * and that he can actually do! Anyways, in this picture he is handing Cal nail strips while Cal nails the plywood down. Turned out to be the perfect job for dad and it helped Cal immensly because he didn't have to go and hunt down the box of nails!!!! We are thankful that dad is interested in our project and it is great to just have him around. It is a little tense as we have to keep a very close eye on him because he is 'not as agile as he used to be'!

Well, we have finally made it to the 'wall' stage. We spent today (March 29) putting up these four walls. Some very complex walls to say the least.

Right click on this picture and then click - open in new window and you will be able to share in the wonderful creation of God! We have been watching two eagles 'remodel' a nest. We anxiously await new birth! If possible, we will continue to post some pics of it all. This is the vision I will look upon while doing dishes!!! I might just use the sink more than the dishwasher!

This gap in the floor joists is for the gyproc delivery on Monday! Cal left this hole there because he realized they wouldn't be able to get 12' sheets down the stairway. He really is always thinking ahead. The plywood will be going on this week!

My thinker! Cal spends alot of time checking the plans and viewing the site. He keeps says 'Its not an easy plan'. There are very few long walls so he will measure and remeasure. I'm okay with that!!!!

These are the interior walls of the basement...and our first beam! Yahoo!!

Its not much but it is a start. We got the insulation in place in the crawl space and Cal has started framing. This is the pony wall between the crawl space and the basement.
